Recently, entertainment programs in the form of reality frequently appeared all over Korean terrestrial and cable TV channels. The flooding of this kind of reality programs is not a local phenomenon limited to Korea. Reality programs now spread globally and then are being developed or transformed into enormous localized programs. The success of this new program format is based on diverse experiments of TV genre for survival in the age of multi-media and on the development of digital production technology. Further, as a hybrid genre between fact and representation, reality programs provide unique and fresh entertainment for audience who has been fed with traditional forms of programs. Although recently there has been research on the entertainment value of domestic reality programs, one can hardly find a study on the relationship between the local context and the entertainment value of reality programs that are continuously developed, accepted, and transformed over time. This study aims to investigate local characteristics of entertainment value produced by reality programs on a Korean terrestrial channel and the acceptance pleasure according to the characteristics. With the aim, the study reveals narrative structure of <One Night Two Days>, one of reality programs on KBS2 TV, by conducting semiotic analysis and further suggests its sociocultural implications.
