The purpose of this dissertation is to ensure the role of technical guidelines by analyzing strengths and weaknesses through comparatively studying the characteristics of 4K-Red One Camera of Red which has been now in the spotlight, and Super-16mm which has been used by school, independent film and music video focused on Super-35mm camera which is the best type of film media. Also, this study started to activate the flexibility of accepting other media, and an exchange with other media for film makers who hold fast only to classical film methods through data gained as outcomes. This dissertation explained a fundamental difference between the video medium and film by latitude, depth of field and a color reproduction principle, and introduced the specifications and testing method of camera used for the test. Also, respectively-used cameras' features and characteristics were extracted and utilized as a reference. In the text of this dissertation, the latitude and color reproduction of Super-35mm and Red One were compared and the depth of field was tested. Then, Super-16mm camera and Red one were compared and analyzed by same method. The important point is to compare a changing contrast, chroma and sharpness by reducing the light's intensity of radiation on the man, when the man's latitude is tested in the room. It indicates a clear difference from the camera using the camera's iris. In addition, up to the color reproduction capability in the post production process could be compared through selecting an over-exposed scene and under-exposed scene and conducting a digital color calibration directly. As the result of doing diverse tests in depth, the fIlm seems more comparative at least in the color reproduction capability and latitude range than the HD medium according to a judgment limited to the camera's function in a shooting phase. But, it is deemed that the results should be compared through the test by other methods in the production's efficiency in the production phase, the color calibration in the post, and the compatibility in the screening phase. Because it is sure that the future fIlm production environment will be converted into F-D-D system of processing ouly the process up to the screening phase after filming, or D-D-D system of using the digital medium for all processes from filming to screening, an union of film and digital has been considered as a compulsory flow of the era. By reflecting such the tendency, there must be an adequate standard to enable fIlm makers to recognize the difference between two media definitely and to make a clever selection. For it, it is considered that accurate data between two medium must be continuously opened and compatible.
