In filmmaking, the perspective has been borrowed from painting. Strictly speaking, painting has borrowed the perspective from photography, and film has borrowed the composition and perspective from photography through painting. The perspective is applied differently in East and West. In this study, "linear perspective," "atmospheric perspective," "overlapping," and "reflection" of the western perspective were examined. His "Love Letter," "April Story," and "Picnic" are different kinds of love stories of Iwai Shunji. His use of different perspectives expresses love in different ways in each of these films. In "Love Letter," he expressed a travel back to past memories that makes viewers feel as if love is waiting somewhere. In "April Story," he depicted the sentiments of young and pure love. In "Picnic," on the other hand, he expressed the struggle of people who are seeking the love of spirit to find freedom and to communicate with the world. Iwai Shunji adopts the best type of perspective for each of the different expressions of love and creates pictures that are very different in character. This study comparatively discussed the use of different types of perspectives in films.
