A Study on the Characteristics of Animation Topography in 1990 s Korea

Not merely animations for the theater and TV but also pure creative domestic animations were produced in large quantities in the 1990s, which greatly contributed to the qualitative advancement of animation as well as to the revival of industry. On t he other hand, t he support of t he government to animation and the establishment of its related facilities to keep pace with its changed needs led the animation market to effect a significant change. In particular, newly organized departments of animation in universities made us cognize animation as a genre of image expression arts and concurrently with this played a catalyzer role in the affirmative perception of practical science. However, notwithstanding that the 1990s were an animation activating period in Korea, we cannot deny that many mooted points have arisen in building a substantial base of animation. With this in mind can we predict the perspective of Korean animation in the future through the merits and demerits of animation topography in the 1990s.
