프로덕션디자이너의 작업과정에 관한 연구

Practical design of the setting, with which both writers and directors are deeply concerned, is materialized through toiling work of the production designer. The main job of production designer is to select colors, materials, and decide the characteristics of the overall picture of the setting. He vividly visualize the abstract images, existing in the minds of writers and directors, thus embodying the feelings and messages of the film. Many people are not quite familiar with the jobs, responsibilities and working process of the production designer in the filming. Generally we have had lower interests in other areas and it is only recently that art directors are employed in the filming, with his job limited to setting. In view of the fact, it is too early to expect that the concept of the production design is easily comprehensible and recognized. Therefore, in this thesis, I would like to discuss the roles, responsibilities and working processes of the production designer and fine out some strong points which can be applied to our film, thereby enhancing the specialty, efficacy of the work with the help of art director.
