Research on institutional approaches for eco-friendly film and television production: focus on Eco-Initiative in the UK, France, and Germany

This study compares initiatives in the UK, France, and Germany for eco-friendly video production and explores policy for their adoption in Korea. Production guidelines, which are used by eco-friendly initiatives as a proactive control measure, stipulate detailed behavioral guidelines for each production process. The carbon footprint calculator, which is utilized as a reactive measure, allows users to enter various data depending on the unit of measurement for each production process. The eco-friendly initiative adopted an environmental supervisor and a certification system as an operational effectiveness measure. Based on the analysis, the development of domestic eco-friendly initiatives should secure global compatibility, include binding measures, and, third, clearly present the operating entity of the initiative.
