This study is an empirical study examining how the viewing of environmental documentaries affects the perceptions and attitudes of media audiences, and how long the influence lasts. In order to conduct this study, 165 university students were asked to watch the four-part KBS environmental documentary ‘Red Earth’ at intervals of one week, and t hen privately divided into five groups, immediately after viewing, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks, they were asked to respond to the survey. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that when the environmental documentary ‘Red Earth’ was watched, the environment was more important than the case where it was not watched, the environment was more actively supported, and the will to make practical efforts to protect the environment was strengthened. In addition, the effect of watching the environmental documentary ‘Red Earth’ lasted for 2 weeks in the case of awareness of the importance of the environment, 3 weeks in the support of environmental groups, and the reinforcement effect of the will to make practical efforts to protect the environment lasts for about 1 week.
