A Study on Post-ideology and Brotherhood Myth of <Escape from Mogadishu>

The Korean film, Escape from Mogadishu, is a successful movie in 2021 Korean box office when the horrific COVID19 almost had shut down every world box offices. Though Korean moviegoers fell into a fourth just in two years from 2019 till 2021, Escape from Mogadishu ranked at the 2nd in 2021 Korean box office. It is a well-made (Korean) division film and a variety of Somali civil war and a series of diplomatic conflict between South and North Korean who stationed at Mogadishu in 1990. Moreover as Somali civil war had worsened, two Korean diplomats and their families confronted very seriously dangerous situation. Finally two Korean ambassadors decided to evacuate the whole Korean crews getting aboard the Italian rescue plane from Mogadishu to neighboring Kenya with the help of Italian government. Their extremely dangerous evacu ation mission was at last succeeded and they finally happily arrived at Kenya Mombasa Int’l airport. The story underlines that the situation of two Koreans are getting more post-ideological and acknowledges the myth of that the Koreans who divided with two confronting nations could make it through if they cooperate with each other against all odds. The story based on a true event and it accentuates the realism of the film. The verisimilitude of the movie also helps a box office hit.
