퀴어영화의 셔레이드 분석- 영화 <타오르는 여인의 초상>을 중심으로 -

A Study on charade of the Queer movie- Focused on <Portrait of a Lady on Fire> -

Not only in Korea but also all the nations of the world, awareness of sexual minorities is improving and related social changes are taking place on the whole. It means that tolerance towards queer people enhanced that much, and accordingly, queer coding has been able to appear in all different kinds of media. Currently, reproduction of queer in Korean movies is atte mpting to break from the dichotomous system that makes distinction between heterosexuality and homosexuality and the stereotyped queer reproduction. By extension, for the further progress of queer reproduction, it is essential to develop reproduction styles that mobilize elements revealing the identities, characters, and relationships of homosexual characters in movies without showing their formulaic features so that the audience can understand the text through symptomatic reading. For this, this study selected a movie <Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)> as its subject and analyzed the work based on the Charade theory. It showed that nonverbal elements in queer movies could be effective tools for queer reproduction through the Charade analysis.
