The film <Antigone>(2019), directed by Sophie Deraspe, received international attention for its modern interpretation of Sophocles’ tragedy of the same name. When adapting the original work to a film, how faithful to the original works is an important evaluation criterion. At this time, fidelity does not mean that the original is transferred as it is, but how the original is rewritten. This paper intends to see various examples of the adaptation through comparative analysis between Antigone and <Antigone>. Adapted from an old world-loved classic, <Antigone> maintained its basic setting of conflict between two different worldviews, but succeeded in making Antigone through a variety of cinematic expressions, including reinterpretation of characters, rhythmic use of edited images, and use of symbolic colors. The film asks us questions by reflecting important issues of modern society, such as low and order, class conflict, community solidarity, immigration policy, and understanding of others.
