Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMTD) is the most common inherited peripheral neuropathy, characterized by demyelination or axonal degeneration of peripheral nerves, leading to motor and sensory conduction abnormalities. Due to the underlying neuromuscular and autonomic dysfunction, anesthetic management requires special consideration, including the risk of abnormal responses to neuromuscular blockers, malignant hyperthermia, and delayed recovery from anesthesia. Anesthetic care for patients with CMTD requires a thorough understanding of the disease’s pathophysiology and an individualized plan that avoids depolarizing muscle relaxants and inhalational agents. This case demonstrates that with careful neuromuscular monitoring and TIVA, even robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery can be performed safely in patients with CMTD.
