This study examined the factors affecting men’s awareness of and perceived needs for male-targeted family programs. An online questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,050 men aged 19–69. Men reported their awareness of and needs for family programs, as well as rating gender role stereotypes (Noh & Jung, 2023) and the need for family functioning (Lee & Jung, 2022). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation analysis, Poisson regression, and hierarchical regression analysis. The effects of participants’ sociodemographic characteristics and perceptions of family functioning were analyzed to identify important influences on family program awareness and men’s perceived needs. The results showed that younger age, having children, and holding more traditional gender role stereotypes were associated with increased awareness of family programs. Additionally, men who were more aware of family programs and valued family functioning reported a higher perceived need for such programs. This study has meaningful implications for the development and design of family programs targeting men. In particular, when developing and operating family programs for men, demographic backgrounds should be carefully considered. Furthermore, by promoting positive changes in men's gender role stereotypes and increasing their awareness of family functioning, it may be possible to increase men's participation in family programs and enhance program efficiency.
