청소년의 또래관계의 질이 스마트폰 의존도에 미치는 영향: 우울과 학업 무기력의 이중매개효과

The Effects of Quality of Adolescents’ Peer Relationship on Smartphone Dependency: The Dual Mediating Effects of Depression and Academic Helplessness

본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 낮은 또래관계 질, 우울, 학업 무기력 및 스마트폰 의존도 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 청소년의 낮은 또래관계 질과 스마트폰 의존도 간의 관계에서 우울과 학업 무기력의 이중매개효과를 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 2018년 한국아동⋅청소년패널조사 1차년도 데이터 중 중학교 1학년 학생 자료를 활용하였으며, 2,590명의 자료에서 자기 소유의 스마트폰이 없거나 무응답을 한 자료 289부를 제외하고 총 2,301명의 자료를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 활용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, Pearson의 상관관계분석, SPSS Macro를 이용하여 이중매개효과 분석 및 이중매개효과 유의성 검증을 위한 부트스트래핑을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 성별에 따라 스마트폰 의존도, 우울은 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 스마트폰 의존도에 미치는 변인들의 상대적 영향력은 학업 무기력, 우울, 낮은 또래관계 질, 성별 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년의 낮은 또래관계 질과 스마트폰 의존도 간의 관계에서 우울과 학업 무기력은 이중매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate a relationship between poor quality of peer relationship, depression, academic helplessness, and smartphone dependency of adolescents, and to identify the dual mediating effects of depression and academic helplessness in a relationship between adolescents’ poor quality of peer relationship and smartphone dependency. To this end, this study used the data of freshmen in middle school among the first year data of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018(KCYPS 2018), and among the data of 2,590 people, data of total 2,301 people were used for the final analysis excluding 289 copies that responded to have no smartphone or did not respond. This study conducted frequency analysis using SPSS 21.0, descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and dual mediating effect analysis using SPSS Macro for the collected data and conducted bootstrapping to verify the significance of dual mediating effect. The main results of this study are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in smartphone dependency and depression by gender of adolescents. Secondly, the relative influence of variables on smartphone dependency was in the order of academic helplessness, depression, poor quality of peer relationship, and gender. Thirdly, it was identified that depression and academic helplessness have dual mediating effects on a relationship between poor quality of peer relationship and smatphone dependency of adolescents.
