The importance of various immune cells in the osteoimmune system has attracted increasing attention as the understanding of osteoimmunology has increased. Among them, T-regulatory cells (Tregs) and macrophages play key roles in many inflammatory environments, including periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Hence, future research related to these cells is considered very important. Therefore, studying the relationship between Tregs, macrophages, and PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotides), which has recently been shown to have significant effects on inflammation control and tissue regeneration in the human body, based on osteoimmunology, could be a promising alternative to peri-implantitis in the future.
