An Analysis of Error Types in the Installation of Tactile Paving in Korea

점자블록은 시각장애인이 안전하고 편안하게 이동하는 것을 지원하기 위한 시설로, 점형블록과 선형블록으로 구성되어 있다. 연구 목적은 점자블록 부설 기준을 알아보고, 잘못된 부설 유형을 알아보는 것이다. 연구 방법은「편의시설 상세표준도(제2판)」에 나타난 점자블록 부설 기준에 근거하여 점형블록과 선형블록의 설치 오류 유형을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 점형블록의 설치 오류 유형은 30cm 전방 설치 규정을 지키지 않는 사례, 점형블록 형태 마모 사례, 점형블록의 파손 사례, 색깔 불일치 사례 등이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 선형블록의 설치 오류 유형은 점형블록과 유도블록의 연결 설치 기준위반 사례, 선형블록 설치 방향 오류 사례, 선형블록의 파손 사례, 선형블록 형태 불일치 사례 등이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 첫째, 점형블록 및 선형블록의 설치 목적에 맞게 「편의시설 상세표준도(제2판)」규정에 근거하여 설치되었는지 확인이 필요하다. 둘째, 점자블록에 대한 일반인 이해를 위한 홍보활동의 필요성 및 점자블록 관리책임자의 정기적인 관리의 필요성이 제기되었다.

Tactile paving, consisting of blister tactile blocks and directional tactile blocks, is designed to support the safe and comfortable mobility of persons with visual impairments. This study aims to examine the installation standards for tactile paving and to identify common errors found in current installation practices. The analysis was conducted using the Detailed Standards for Accessibility Facilities (2nd ed.), focusing on error types related to the installation of blister and directional blocks. The findings of this study are as follows. First, installation errors concerning blister tactile blocks included failure to comply with the 30 cm setback installation rule, surface wear of blister blocks, physical damage, and color inconsistency. Second, installation errors concerning directional tactile blocks included non-compliance with the connection standards between blister and directional blocks, incorrect installation direction, physical damage, and inconsistencies in block shape or pattern. This study provides the following implications. First, it is necessary to verify whether blister and directional tactile blocks are installed in accordance with the Detailed Standards for Accessibility Facilities(2nd ed.) and the intended purpose of each block type. Second, the findings highlight the need for public awareness campaigns to improve general understanding of tactile paving, as well as the need for regular inspection and maintenance by responsible personnel.
