AI시대, 종교교육은 무엇을 해야 하는가?: 인간과 AI의 공존을 위한 종교교육의 방향에 관한 시론적 고찰

What Should Religious Education Do in the Age of AI?: A Preliminary Study on the Direction of Religious Education for Humans-AI Coexistence

[연구 목적] 본 연구는 AI시대에 종교교육의 역할과 방향을 모색하고, 인간이 AI기술에 종속되지 않고 AI와 지혜롭게 공존하고 협력하는 길을 교육의 방향에서 제시하는 데 있다. AI의 급격한 발전에 상응하여 도덕적 가치관과 인간의 주체적인 정신의 힘을 함양하는 종교교육의 실천적 역할을 탐색하고자 한다. [연구 내용] 딥페이크, 알고리듬 편향, 데이터 사유화, 교육 불평등 심화 등 AI기술 발전이 초래하는 다양한 윤리적 문제와 교육 현장의 이슈를 검토하고, EU의 AI Act나 유네스코의 권고 등 국내외의 대응 양상을 살핀다. 이를 바탕으로, 원불교 사상에 근거해 인간과 AI의 공존을 위한 종교교육의 방향을 세 가지로 제안한다. 첫째, 인간 중심 가치관을 재정립하고 기술 윤리를 통합하는 공존의 윤리 기반을 구축하는 것이다. 둘째, AI에 대한 과도한 의존을 방지하고 주체적인 판단력을 키우는 자력양성 교육이다. 셋째, 인간 고유의 역량을 함양하고 AI를 선용하는 마음공부 교육이 요구된다. [결론] AI시대의 종교교육은 과학기술 문명 속에서 인간의 존엄성을 지키고, AI와의 지혜로운 공존과 전 지구적 공생을 이루어 가는 역할을 수행해야 한다. 종교교육은 사은 사상을 통한 윤리관 확립, 자력양성을 통한 주체성 강화, 마음공부를 통한 인성 및 영성 함양 교육을 통해 AI기술을 선용하고 평화로운 세상을 건설하는 데 기여할 것이다.

[Objejctive] This study seeks to explore the role and direction of religious education in the AI era, proposing an educational path that enables humans to wisely coexist and collaborate with AI technology, preventing human subjugation to it. The main objective is to examine the practical role of religious education in fostering moral values and the subjective power of the human spirit in response to the rapid development of AI. [Contents] This research reviews various ethical problems and educational issues arising from the advancement of AI technology, such as deepfakes, algorithmic bias, data privatization, and the deepening of educational inequality. It also examines domestic and international responses, including the EU’s AI Act and UNESCO’s recommendations. Based on this review, the study proposes three directions for religious education rooted in Won-Buddhist thought for the coexistence of humanity and AI. [Conclusions] Religious education in the AI era must assume the responsibility of safeguarding human dignity within the civilization of science and technology, and achieving wise coexistence with AI and global symbiosis. By establishing an ethical perspective through the Four Grace, strengthening subjectivity through Developing Self-Power, and cultivating character and spirituality through Mind Study, religious education will contribute to the virtuous use of AI technology and the construction of a peaceful world.
