가족갈등을 경험한 대학생의 메타버스 가족세우기 참여 경험에 대한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Study on the Experiences of College Students With Family Conflicts Participating in a Metaverse-Based Family Constellation Program

본 연구는 가족갈등을 겪는 대학생을 대상으로 메타버스 환경에서 가족세우기 기법을 적용한 상담경험을 탐색한 질적 사례연구이다. 총 8명이 3회기 상담과 심층 면담에 참여하였으며, 주제분석 결과 4개 주제, 12개 하위주제, 38개 코드가 도출되었다. 참여자들은 메타버스 환경이 시간․공간 제약을 줄이고 심리적 안정감을 제공하여 몰입과 감정 표현을 촉진한다고 보고하였다. 감정카드와 동물 피규어 등 상징적 도구는 간접적․구체적 표현을 돕고 자기 이해를 확장하는 매개로 작용하였다. 그러나 상담 공간 확보의 어려움, 정서적 깊이의 한계, 짧은 회기 수는 제약으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 메타버스 기반 가족세우기 상담의 효과성과 디지털 상담 기법의 적용 가능성을 시사한다.

Objectives: This study explored the experiences of university students with family conflicts who participated in family constellation counseling conducted in a metaverse environment, examining its applicability in digital counseling. Methods: Eight students engaged in three metaverse-based sessions, followed by semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. Results: Analysis identified 4 themes, 12 sub-themes, and 38 codes. Key findings showed that the metaverse environment enhanced immersion and emotional expression by reducing temporal and spatial constraints and providing a psychologically comfortable setting. Symbolic tools such as emotion cards and animal figurines supported indirect and concrete expression of family relationships. Participants reported new insights, emotional regulation, and self-understanding. However, challenges included difficulties in securing private spaces, limited depth of emotional engagement, and the short number of sessions. Conclusions: Metaverse-based family constellation counseling demonstrated potential as an effective intervention, enabling participants to visualize and reconstruct family dynamics. The findings suggest that symbolic and nonverbal techniques can be effectively adapted to digital counseling, offering practical implications for broader applications.
