디지털 전환 속 시각장애 교사의 위치성 탐색: 디지털 포용과 배제의 경험을 중심으로

Exploring the Positionality of Teachers with Visual Impairments in Digital Transformation: Focusing on Experiences of Inclusion and Exclusion

연구 목적: 본 연구는 디지털 전환 시대에 시각장애 교사가 장애인이자 교사라는 이중적 위치에서 경험하는 디지털 포용과 배제를 탐색하고, 이를 바탕으로 포용적 디지털 환경 구축을 위한 시사점을 제안하고자 하였다. 연구 방법: 연구 목적에 부합하는 심층적 통찰을 얻기 위해 시각장애 교사 5명을 대상으로 반구조화 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과: 첫째, 시각장애 교사는 디지털 전환 과정에서 포용과 배제가 동시에 작동하는 양가적 경험을 보고하였다. 둘째, 교육 현장에서 시각장애 교사는 기술을 매개로 전문성의 확장과 위협, 동료와의 협력과 소외라는 이중적 경험을 형성하였다. 셋째, 이러한 경험을 토대로 시각장애 교사는 기술을 종속적으로 수용하거나 주체적으로 활용하는 관계성을 구축하였으며, 이에 따라 다양한 대응 전략을 실천하였다. 넷째, 시각장애 교사는 포용적 디지털 환경의 구성 요소와 교사에게 요구되는 역량을 제시하며 향후 디지털 환경에 대한 요구와 기대를 드러냈다. 결론: 포용적 디지털 전환을 위해서는 기술·정책·현장 실천 전 과정에서 시각장애 교사의 교차적 위치성을 반영하는 협력적 접근이 필수적임을 확인하였다.

Purpose: This study examines how teachers with visual impairments experience digital inclusion and exclusion within the context of digital transformation, focusing on their dual positionality as both disabled individuals and educators. Furthermore, the study offers practical implicatios for fostering a truly inclusive digital environment. Methods: We employed semi-structured interviews with five teachers who have visual impairments to gather data on their experiences. Results: The findings reveal that teachers experienced a complex ambivalence, where aspects of digital inclusion and exclusion coexisted. They described dualities in their professional roles— both expansion and threat to teacher expertise, and both collaboration and isolation in colleague relationships. These experiences shaped either dependent or agentic relationships with technology and informed diverse coping strategies. They also articulated key elements of an inclusive digital environment and the competencies required of teachers. Conclusion: An inclusive digital transformation requires collaborative efforts across technology development, policy, and school practice that reflect the intersectional positionality of teachers with visual impairments.
