In August 2024, numerous “Me Too” posts disclosing intrafamilial sexual violence were shared on X (formerly Twitter). These posts triggered widespread public attention and brought the issue of intrafamilial sexual abuse into the center of social discourse. The disclosures, once confined to private spheres, elicited diverse emotional and cognitive reactions from users of X platform. This study examins both domestic and international public perceptions and emotional responses to these disclosures. A total of 1,184 quote tweets and replies were collected and analyzed using text mining methods, including word frequency analysis and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. The analysis revealed high-frequency terms such as “family,” “woman,” “victim,” “safety,” and “anger,” and identified six thematic topics: (1) support and solidarity with victims, (2) shock over the perpetrator being a family member, (3) practical advice for victims, (4) criticism of social systems, (5) concerns from foreign users about women’s safety in South Korea, and (6) misogynistic backlash. These findings illustrate the multifaceted nature of public discourse on intrafamilial sexual violence, which can involve emotional support, social criticism, and gender-based tension. The study offers implications for victim protection policies, as well as possible secondary trauma prevention, and psychological intervention strategies while also highlights how digital platforms can shape public narratives on sexual violence.
