This study aimed to examine the sequential mediating effects of autonomy and body image on the relationship between adolescents' perceived maternal attachment and well-being. The data from 935 first-year middle school adolescents from the 14th Wave of the Panel Study of Korean Children were used. SPSS 28 and Macro 4.2, Model 6 were used for analysis. The results are as follows. First, Boys had significantly higher body image and happiness than girls. Second, there was a significant positive correlation among maternal attachment, autonomy, body image, and well-being. Third, the sequential mediating effects of autonomy and body image were significant in the relationship between maternal attachment and happiness. The significance of this study lies in its expansion and deeper understanding of the relationships among variables by revealing the sequential relationship between autonomy fulfillment and physical image in the process in which maternal attachment influences adolescents' happiness.
