This study aims to examine the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between relative deprivation and subjective well-being among university students. The participants of this study were 289 university students, and data were collected through self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 and PROCESS MACRO 4.3 programs. The results of this study are as follows. First, relative deprivation showed a significant negative effect on their subjective well-being. Second, social support significantly modulated the relationship between relative deprivation and subjective well-being. In the low social support group, higher levels of relative deprivation were associated with lower subjective well-being. However, in the high social support group, changes in relative deprivation did not lead to corresponding changes in subjective well-being. The findings confirm the role of social support in maintaining subjective well-being even when university students experience relative deprivation.
