한국수어 사전의 표제화 원칙 제안

Proposing Lemmatisation Principles for Korean Sign Language Dictionaries

본 연구는 한국수어 사전 편찬을 위한 체계적인 표제화 원칙을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존 국내 수어사전들이 한국어 중심의 표준화 관점에서 편찬되어 생산적 어휘와 고정된 어휘를 구별하지 못하고, 실제 사용되지 않는 수어를 인위적으로 조어하는 등의 문제를 보였다. 이에 본 연구는 호주수어사전과 영국수어사전의 언어학적 표제화 원칙을 검토하고, 한국수어의 고유한 특성을 반영한 표제화 원칙을 제안하였다. 구체적으로 음운론적 기준에서는 음운적 변이형과 어휘적 변이형의 구분 기준을, 형태론적 기준에서는 형성과 변형의 체계적 구분을, 의미론적 기준에서는 동음이의어와 다의어의 처리 방식을 제시하였다. 또한 비수지기호의 음소적 기능과 형태소적 기능을 구별하는 원칙을 마련하였다. 본 연구의 표제화 원칙은 한국수어를 독립된 언어 체계로 인정하고 그 특성을 반영함으로써, 향후 체계적인 사전 편찬과 수어 연구의 기반이 될 것으로 기대된다.

This study aims to propose a lemmatisation principle for the compilation of a Korean Sign Language(KSL) dictionary. Previous KSL dictionaries have been compiled from a Korean-centered standardization perspective, resulting in problems such as the failure to distinguish between productive and fixed vocabulary, and the artificial creation of signs that are not actually used. To address these issues, this study examined the linguistic lemmatisation principles of the Auslan Signbank and the British Sign Language Signbank, and proposed a set of principles that reflect the unique characteristics of KSL. Specifically, at the phonological level, criteria were established to differentiate phonological variants from lexical variants; at the morphological level, a systematic distinction was made between word formation and modification; and at the semantic level, methods were proposed for handling homonyms and polysemes. Furthermore, principles were developed to distinguish the phonemic and morphemic functions of non-manual signals. By recognizing KSL as an independent linguistic system and faithfully reflecting its characteristics, the proposed lemmatisation principles are expected to provide a foundation for future systematic dictionary compilation and linguistic research on KSL.
