중등교사의 죽음교육 역할 수행과 지원에 대한 인식 연구

A Study on Secondary School Teachers’ Perceptions of Their Roles and Support in Death Education

본 연구는 교사들의 학교 내 죽음관련 사건이 발생하였을 때 교사 자신의 역할과 교사의 심리적 안전에 대한 인식을 확인하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 달성하기 위한 본 연구의 연구문제는 첫째, 교사의 학교에서 일어난 죽음관련 사건 경험은 어떠한가?, 둘째, 죽음 관련 사건 발생 시, 교사의 역할에 대한 인식은 어떠한가?, 셋째, 교사가 죽음교육을 실시할 경우 예상되는 어려움에 대한 인식은 어떠한가?, 넷째, 교사의 죽음교육 요구는 어떠한가?였다. 이를 위하여 교내 죽음사건 경험이 있는 중등 교사 14명을 대상으로 6월 1주-2주에 인터뷰를 실시하고 합의적 질적 연구 방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, ‘교사의 학교에서 일어난 죽음관련 사건 경험’, ‘죽음 관련 사건 발생 시, 교사의 역할에 대한 인식’, ‘교사가 죽음교육을 실시할 경우 예상되는 어려움에 대한 인식’, ‘교사의 죽음교육 요구’의 4개 영역에서 18개 범주가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 학교현장에 적합한 죽음교육 및 애도교육의 기초자료를 제공하고, 교사의 전문성 향상과 학생지원역량 강화를 위한 실질적인 방안 모색에 기여하고자 하였다.

This study aimed to examine teachers’ perceptions of their roles and psychological safety when a death-related incident occurs in their schools. The research questions were as follows: First, what are teachers’ experiences with death-related incidents at school? Second, what are teachers’ perceptions of their roles when a death-related incident occurs? Third, what are teachers’ perceptions of the anticipated difficulties when implementing death education? Fourteen secondary teachers with experience with death-related incidents at school were interviewed during the first and second weeks of June and analyzed using a consensual qualitative research method. The results yielded 18 categories within four domains: “Teachers’ experiences with death-related incidents at school,” “Teachers’ perceptions of their roles when a death-related incident occurs,” “Teachers’ perceptions of the anticipated difficulties when implementing death education,” and “Teachers’ needs for death education.” The results of this study provide basic data for death and grief education appropriate for schools, and contribute to the exploration of practical measures to enhance teacher professionalism and student support capabilities.
