저소득층 청소년의 자원봉사 참여 수준에 따른 핵심역량 발달 비교

A Comparative Study on the Core Competency Development of Low-Income Adolescents by the Level of Volunteer Participation

본 연구는 저소득층 청소년의 자원봉사 참여 경험 수준에 따라 핵심 역량 발달 수준이 차이가 나타나는지를 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 자원봉사 경험을 누적 횟수와 누적 시간을 기준으로 참여 수준을 미참여⋅간헐적 참여⋅헌신적 참여의 세 집단으로 구분하였고, 참여 수준에 따라 핵심 역량 간 차이가 발생하는지를 다변량 공분산분석 연구 모형(MANCOVA)을 통해 검증하였다. 분석 자료는 삼성꿈장학재단의 ｢교육소외 아동⋅청소년 종단연구｣ 2024년 후기 자료를 활용하였으며, 중⋅고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년을 대상으로 하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 누적 횟수를 기준으로 할 때, 사회기여 역량, 지속도전 역량에서 집단 간 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 누적 시간을 기준으로 한 경우, 사회기여역량, 지속도전 역량, 진로개척 역량에서 유의미한 집단 간 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 누적 횟수 및 시간에서 집단 간 차이가 유의미하게 나타난 경우는 모두 ‘미참여 집단 vs. 헌신적 참여 집단’ 비교에서 확인되었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로, 본 연구는 저소득층 청소년 대상 자원봉사 프로그램의 지속성 확보를 중심으로 한 실천적⋅행정적 함의를 제시하였다.

This study examined whether differences exist in the development of core competencies among adolescents from low-income backgrounds according to their level of volunteer participation. To this end, participants were classified into three groups—non-participation, intermittent participation, and committed participation—based on the cumulative frequency and duration of their volunteer experiences. Using a Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) model, the study tested whether levels of participation led to significant differences in core competencies. Data were drawn from the 2024 Fall Wave of the Longitudinal Study of Educationally Disadvantaged Children and Adolescents conducted by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation, targeting middle and high school students. The main findings are as follows. First, based on cumulative frequency, significant group differences were found in social contribution competency and persistence and challenge competency. Second, based on cumulative hours, significant differences were observed in social contribution, persistence and challenge, and career development competencies. Third, in both cumulative frequency and cumulative hours, significant differences consistently appeared between the non-participation group and the committed participation group. Based on these results, this study provides practical and administrative implications emphasizing the importance of ensuring the continuity of volunteer programs for low-income adolescents and fostering the development of social contribution competencies.
