The Effects of High-Risk Maternal Simulation Practice on Nursing Students' Clinical Performance Ability, Problem-Solving Ability, and Practice Satisfaction
- 7
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the clinical performance, problem-solving ability, and practice satisfaction levels of nursing students who underwent high-risk maternal simulation-based training. Methods: The study participants were one hundred sixty-eight of two hundred thirty-six fourth-year nursing students who responded to a questionnaire. Data were collected between February 29 and May 31, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 25, with paired t-test to determine differences in clinical performance ability, problem-solving ability, and practice satisfaction. Correlation between the variables were confirmed. Results: The results showed a positive correlation between clinical performance ability, problem-solving ability, and satisfaction with practice, and a positive correlation between problemsolving ability and satisfaction with practice. In addition, there were significant differences in clinical performance ability (t=-14.77, p<.001), problem-solving ability (t=-9.54, p<.001), and practice satisfaction (t=-11.34, p<.001) after the simulation training compared to before the training. Conclusion: Clinical performance ability, problem-solving ability, and practice satisfaction were positively correlated, with problem-solving ability showing a particularly strong association with practice satisfaction. These results support simulation-based training is an effective method for women's health nursing practice. Therefore, further development and validation of simulation programs based on diverse scenarios are necessary.
