This study aimed to identify the subjective perceptions of treatment experiences among men with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and to structure these perceptions into distinct types, thereby providing foundational data for the development of tailored nursing interventions. Q Methodology was applied, and 34 Q-statements related to BPH treatment experiences were constructed. A total of 32 male patients who had undergone various treatments, including Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), laser procedures, and medication therapy, participated in the Q-sorting process. The collected data were subsequently interpreted using factor analysis. The analysis revealed four distinct perceptual patterns concerning BPH treatment experiences. These included Type I, characterized by a focus on severe physical fatigue and emotional fear; Type II, which was highly sensitive to changes in sexual function and the associated decline in quality of life; Type III, which reported distress due to insufficient treatment information and communication deficits with medical staff; and Type IV, which accepted the disease and treatment comparatively positively, anchored by strong family support. The findings indicate that BPH patients’ perceptions of their treatment experiences exhibit clear differences across these four types. Therefore, in clinical nursing practice, it is necessary to develop and implement a customized nursing approach that considers the unique situation and perceptual differences of each patient, rather than providing uniform education and counseling.
