‘직장어린이집’ 경험에 대한 의미 탐구: 한 직장어린이집에서 자녀의 0-5세 연속 보육 경험한 학부모를 중심으로

Exploring the meaning of parents' experiences in a workplace childcare center: Focusing on Parents who experienced continuous childcare for their children aged 0-5 at a Workplace Childcare Center

본 연구는 직장어린이집에서 0-5세 자녀 보육을 맡기면서 부모의 경험에 대한 의미를 살피는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 자녀가 0-5세까지 직장어린이집에서 보육을 경험한 부모 12명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 부모가 직장어린이집에서 경험한 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모는 자녀가 느끼는 부모의 부재를 걱정하였는데 담임교사가 0세부터 5세까지 연임을 통해 제 2의 부모가 되어줌으로써 안정감을 경험하였다. 둘째, 부모는 근무시간을 바탕으로 예측이 가능한 부분과 예기치 못한 근로 환경이 생겼을 경우 직장어린이집을 통해서 자녀의 돌봄이 해결되고 있었다. 셋째, 우수한 보육환경을 통해 자녀를 위한 다양한 지원에 대한 가능 여부였다. 맞벌이의 경우 부모가 모두 직장에 다니고 있기에 부모가 직접 양육을 할 수 없었고 환경적인 도움이 절실히 필요하였다. 직장어린이집은 부모의 근무지와 가까운 거리에 있어 등⋅하원에 대한 편리함을 경험하였고 취학 전 모든 연령의 보육이 가능한 점과 부모의 근로시간에 대해 시설의 이해와 운영이 가능한 점이 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 일⋅가정의 양립 환경 조성이 요구되는 사회적 시기에 직장어린이집에 관한 이해의 지평을 넓히리라 기대된다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of parents' experiences in entrusting the care of their children, aged 0-5, to a workplace childcare center. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 parents whose children were cared for in a workplace childcare center from birth to age five. The meanings of their experiences were found to be as follows. First, parents were concerned about their children feeling their absence, but experienced a sense of stability as the homeroom teacher, who remained with the child from age 0 to 5, became like a second parent. Second, parents' childcare needs were met through the workplace childcare center, which could accommodate predictable working hours and provide care even in unexpected work situations. Third, the excellent childcare environment provided access to various support options for their children. For dual-income parents who were both working, direct care giving was not possible, making environmental support critically necessary. The workplace childcare center's location near their workplace offered convenience for drop-off and pickup, and the facility's ability to provide care for all preschool ages, along with its understanding of and adaptability to parents' working hours, were significant benefits. This study is expected to broaden the understanding of workplace childcare centers at a time when creating a balance between work and family life is a societal imperative.
