유아 교사의 생활지도 실천 경험의 양상

Patterns of Early Childhood Teachers’ Life-Guidance Practices

본 연구는 유아 교사의 생활지도 실천 경험의 양상을 살펴보고 현장에서 나타나는 생활지도의 이해와 실천 방향을 탐색하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 약 5개월간 유아교육 기관에서 5년 이상 경력이 있는 교사 9명과 1~4차례 심층 면담을 28회 진행하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, ‘유아 생활 전반을 바라보는 교사의 생활지도 이해’ 둘째, ‘상황 속에서 실천 방향이 펼쳐지는 생활지도’ 셋째, ‘3주체의 관계 맺기를 통한 생활지도’로 나타났으며, 이는 생활지도가 교사의 이해와 상황에 따른 실천이 관계적 맥락 속에서 조율되며 이루어지는 복합적인 과정임을 보여준다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 첫째, 모든 일상을 포괄하는 생활지도에 대한 교사의 이해 속에서 교사들이 경험한 개념적 혼동과 의미 구성 과정을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 예측 불가능한 상황과 마주친 교사의 실천이 환경과 관계적 맥락 속에서 조정되는 과정을 재조명하였다. 셋째, 가정의 도움과 협력으로 완성되는 것으로 인식하는 교사의 관점을 중심으로 논의하였다. 본 연구는 생활지도가 교사의 이해, 상황적 판단, 관계적 조정이 서로 영향을 주며 형성되는 과정임을 밝혀 생활지도를 더욱 심층적으로 이해할 수 있는 새로운 해석 관점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore early childhood teachers’ experiences and perceptions of life-guidance practices and to examine how their understanding and actions unfold in actual educational contexts. Over a five-month period, 28 in-depth interviews were conducted with nine teachers who each had more than five years of experience in early childhood education settings. Analysis resulted in three major categories: (1) teachers’ understanding of life guidance as encompassing all aspects of children’s daily lives, (2) life-guidance practices shaped through teachers’ situational judgment and moment-to-moment decision-making, and (3) life guidance constructed through relational interactions among teachers, children, and parents. These findings indicate that life-guidance practices emerge not simply from predefined strategies but through the application of teachers’ practical knowledge, the enactment of beliefs and values within unpredictable situations, and the collaborative processes developed through parent–teacher partnerships. This study highlights that life guidance is a complex and evolving practice formed through teachers’ interpretations, situational responses, and relational negotiations, offering an expanded perspective for understanding how life guidance is constructed and enacted in early childhood settings.
