표현언어에 어려움을 보이는 유아의 모래상자놀이 사례연구

본 연구는 표현언어에 어려움을 보이는 유아가 모래상자놀이를 통해 자신을 어떻게 표현하며, 그 표현 양상이 어떻게 변화하는지를 살펴보고, 나아가 모래상자놀이의 적용 효과를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 만 5년 6개월 된 남아 1명으로, 유치원 일상생활에서 또래와의 관계 형성에 어려움을 겪고 의사소통이 원활하지 않아 유치원 적응 문제로 의뢰된 유아이다. 연구절차는 모래상자놀이 실시, 모래상자놀이 표현, 모래상자놀이 적용 효과로 진행되었다. 모래상자놀이의 실시 과정은 Kalff(1996)가 제시한 방법에 따라 이루어졌으며, 2025년 6월 18일(수)부터 8월 20일(수)까지 10주 동안 총 10회에 걸쳐 진행되었다. 모래상자놀이 표현 분석은 매 회기마다 유아의 행동 특성을 기록한 일화기록, 사진 및 비디오 촬영 자료, 유아의 놀이평가 자료를 종합하여, 놀이의 변화 과정을 중심으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 모래상자놀이는 표현언어에 어려움을 보이는 유아가 자신을 인식하고 표현할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였으며, 이를 통해 유아의 표현언어가 향상되고 유치원 내 대인관계에서도 긍정적인 변화가 나타났다.

The purpose of this study was to examine how young children with difficulties in expressive language express themselves through sandbox play, how their expression patterns change, and further to analyze the application effects of sandbox play. The subject was a 5-year-old boy who was referred to the clinic due to his sometimes excessively passive and rigid attitude when expressing himself in front of others. The study procedures included conducting sandbox play, examining sandbox play expressions, and examining the effects of sandbox play application. The sandbox play tools were implemented according to the method suggested by Kalff (1996). Ten sessions of sandbox play were conducted over a 10-week period from Wednesday, June 18, 2025 to Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The sandbox play expressions were analyzed based on anecdotal records of the child's behavioral characteristics, photographs, videotaped recordings, and play evaluations, focusing on the process of change in sandbox play. Research results show that sandbox play allows children who have difficulty expressing language to discover their own characteristics and express themselves through the experience, which leads to positive changes in interpersonal relationships in kindergarten.
