중학교 가정교과를 통한 한국형 관계교육 프로그램(K-RSP) 실행 및 효과

A Study on Implementation and Effectiveness of a Korean-adapted Relationship Smarts Plus (K-RSP) Program in Middle School Home Economics Education

이 연구는 중학생의 관계형성 역량 향상을 위해 미국의 Relationship Smarts PLUS(RSP) 프로그램을 기반으로 중학교 기술⋅가정 교과에서 적용 가능한 17차시 한국형 관계교육 프로그램(K-RSP)을 개발하고 그 효과를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. ADDIE 모형에 따라 프로그램을 설계하였으며, RSP 5.0의 핵심 구조와 자료를 번역⋅수정하여 중학교 수준에 맞는 활동 중심 수업으로 재구성하였다. 세종시 A중학교 1학년 53명을 대상으로 기술⋅가정 교과 자유학기 프로그램 17차시 블록타임 수업을 운영하고, 사전⋅사후 검사와 학습활동지, 서술형 응답을 통해 효과를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 의사소통, 자기이해, 갈등해결, 공감 등 관계형성 역량의 주요 하위영역에서 유의미한 향상이 나타났으며, 인형극⋅감사 표현 활동 등 경험 기반 활동의 효과가 특히 두드러졌다. 본 연구는 RSP 기반 프로그램을 국내 중학교 교과 수업에 적용하여 관계교육의 가능성과 교육적 효과를 실증적으로 확인하였다는 점에서 의의를 지니며, 향후 다양한 지역 및 학교급으로 확장한 연구와 장기 효과 분석이 요구된다.

This study aimed to develop a 17-session Korean-adapted Relationship Smarts Plus(K-RSP) program for middle school students based on the U.S. Relationship Smarts PLUS (RSP) curriculum and to examine its effectiveness in enhancing adolescents’ relationship-building competence. Following the ADDIE model, the Relationship Smarts program was culturally adapted by translating core components of RSP 5.0 and creating activity-based lessons suitable for the Korean middle school context. The program was implemented during a 17-session block-time course in a Home Economics free-semester class with 53 first-grade students at a middle school in Sejong. Effectiveness was evaluated using pre- and post-tests, learning worksheets, and open-ended responses. The results showed significant improvements across major subdomains of relationship-building competence, including communication, self-understanding, conflict resolution, and empathy. Experiential activities such as puppet play and gratitude expression were found to have particularly strong effects. This study demonstrates the applicability and educational value of an RSP-based program within the Korean middle school curriculum and provides empirical evidence supporting school-based relationship education. Further research with diverse regions and school levels, as well as investigations into long-term program effects, is recommended.
