<구미 대둔사 건칠아미타여래좌상>의 복장 다라니에 대한 기초적 검토

A Preliminary Investigation of the Bokjang (Enshrined Dhāraṇīs) of the Dry-Lacquer Seated Amitābha Buddha at Daedunsa Temple

이 글은 구미 대둔사 건칠아미타여래좌상에서 수습된 독특한 형식의 다라니와 원상수구다라니에 대한 기초적 검토를 목적으로 한다. 이 불상의 복장 발원문이 원정(元貞) 원년(1295) 8월에 작성된 것을 확인하였기 때문에, 수습된 다라니의 제작 시점도 악할 수 있다. 독특한 형식의 다라니는 각각 황제만년 원상다라니, 이십이진언, 팔만대장경제목록이다. 황제만년 원상다라니는 외곽 사방에 ‘皇帝萬年’이라는 문구가 적혀 있어서 기존의 고려 다라니 신앙에 원 나라 황제에 대한 축원이 결합된 형식의 다라니로 희소성이 있다. 이십이진언은 22개의 진언이 범자로 나열되어 있고, 그 명칭을 한자로 적은 형식인데, 그동안 발견된 사례가 적어서 이번 발견의 의미가 크다. 팔만대장경제목록은 조선시대 명부신앙과 정토신앙이 결합된 양상을 반영하는 것으로, 그 형식과 구성이 독특하다. 원상수구다라니는 각각 아(अ )자원상수구다라니와 옴(ॐ )자원상수구다라니가 발견되었다. 기존에 널리 알려진 아자원상구다라니들과 중앙 아자 및 사천왕 종자의 형식뿐만 아니라 서사 방식에서도 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 옴자원상다라니의 발견은 대둔사 건칠아미타여래좌상 복장 다라니의 희소성을 알려준다.

This study provides a preliminary examination of the unique dhāraṇīs and original dhāraṇīs recovered from the wooden Amitabha Buddha seated statue at Daedunsa Temple in Gumi. Since the consecration texts enshrined within the statue are dated to the first year of Yuanzheng (1295), the production period of the recovered dhāraṇīs could also be ascertained. The unique dhāraṇīs include the ‘Imperial Longevity’ Circular Dhāraṇī, the Twenty-Two Mantras, and the Catalogue of the Eighty-Thousand Tripiṭaka Sūtras. The “Imperial Longevity” Circular Dhāraṇī is notable for the inscription ‘皇帝萬年’ along its outer margins, reflecting a rare fusion of the Goryeo dhāraṇī tradition with prayers for the Yuan emperor. The Twenty-Two Mantras are inscribed in Brahmi characters with their names in Chinese, and their discovery is significant due to the scarcity of comparable examples. The Catalogue of the Eighty-Thousand Tripiṭaka Sūtras demonstrates a unique format reflecting a convergence of Netherworld Belief and Pure Land devotional practices. The newly discovered circular Mahāpratisarā-dhāraṇī includes two distinct examples, one containing the Siddhaअ character and the other containing the Siddhaॐ character . The अ dhāraṇī shows differences not only in the central अ character and the Four Heavenly Kings’ seeds but also in narrative style, compared to previously known examples. The ॐ Dhāraṇī, discovered for the first time in this study, further emphasizes the rarity of the Daedunsa statue’s consecration materials.
