크리스천 상담에서의 심리학과 성경의 관계

The Relationship of Psychology and the Bible in Christian Counseling

본 연구는 많은 크리스천 상담사가 사람의 심리적 차원과 영적인 차원이 긴밀하게 연결되고 상호작용한다는 사실을 간과하고 심리학적 상담에 머물러 있는 현상에 대한 아쉬움에서 비롯되었다. 심리학은 기본적으로 사람의 내면 정서와 심리, 관계적 요소 등에 대해 다룬다. 그러나 성경은 이러한 요소들을 포함하여 사람이 경험하는 갈등과 곤경, 문제들의 근원적 발단과 예수 그리스도의 구속 사역을 통한 새로운 ‘자기’로의 거듭남, 마음을 새롭게 하고, 믿음으로 변화와 성장을 향해 나아가는 진리의 말씀을 담고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 크리스천의 상담이 사람의 심리적 차원만 아니라 영적 차원에 대한 초점을 갖고 성경 진리에 기반한 접근을 해야 할 당위성을 천명하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 연구자는 이러한 관점에 기반하여 ‘심리학과 성경’에 대한 다섯 가지 입장에 대해 국내의 K-상담대학원생 39명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문 결과, 크리스천 대학원생들에게 성경적 인간 이해와 상담 접근이 불필요하다거나 주저 혹은 결여되는 경향성이 파악되었으며, 이는 구체적인 관련 훈련의 유무와 관련이 있었다. 이러한 결과에 내포된 함의들을 성찰한 후 연구를 마무리하였다.

This study originated from concerns that Christian counselors often overlook the deep interconnection between psychological and spiritual dimensions, focusing solely on psychological perspectives. While Christian counseling shares many aspects with psychological counseling, it differs fundamentally in its emphasis on spiritual aspects and biblical perspectives. Psychology primarily deals with emotions, thoughts, and relational dynamics, whereas the Bible incorporates these psychological elements while also revealing the root causes of human struggles, the limitations of human effort, and the power of Christ’s redemptive work. Through His ministry, people experience born-again self, transformation of mind, and growth through faith. Based on related previous studies, the researcher established five positions on the relationship between psychology and the Scripture and conducted a survey of 39 graduate Christian counseling-major students in Korea. The study reflects on the implications of the survey findings and concludes with further insights.
