Class III Camouflage Treatment Using Clear Aligners and Temporary Skeletal Anchorage Devices

This case report presents the successful orthodontic camouflage treatment of a 40-year-old female patient with dental Class III malocclusion using clear aligner therapy (CAT) in combination with maxillary temporary skeletal anchorage devices (TSADs). The treatment plan involved sequential distalization of the mandibular dentition and Class III elastics anchored to maxillary TSADs. This approach facilitated the establishment of proper anterior overbite and overjet, correction of an anterior open bite, and the achievement of favorable Class I canine and molar relationships without compromising the patient’s facial profile. The treatment was completed within 18 months using 75 aligners, including one refinement phase. This case demonstrates the clinical efficacy of TSAD-assisted CAT in adult Class III patients, while minimizing undesired effects on the maxillary dentition.
