This study examined research trends in divorce-related studies published in Korean academic journals and explored their implications for counseling and psychological interventions. A total of 129 studies focusing on divorced individuals or couples experiencing divorce-related crises were selected through the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS). The studies were analyzed by publication year and academic field, research topics, participants, research methods, and the use of marriage and divorce-related measurement tools. The results indicated that existing research has mainly focused on post-divorce experiences and counseling or therapeutic interventions, with divorced individuals,—particularly women, serving—as the primary participants. Qualitative approaches, especially case studies, were predominant, whereas mixed-method and longitudinal designs were relatively limited. Measurement tools largely centered on marital satisfaction, conflict, and divorce intention, with comparatively fewer instruments addressing the divorce process or post-divorce adjustment. These findings highlight accumulated characteristics of divorce research in Korea and suggest directions for future counseling-based intervention studies.
