A Study of Fieldwork in Occupational Therapy for Mental Health

목적 : 본 연구는 국내 정신건강 분야 작업치료 임상실습 현황을 조사하여 표준화된 임상실습 지침 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 정신건강 분야에서 임상실습 지도 경험이 있는 전국 작업치료사 20명을 대상으로 실시한 서술적 조사 연구로 2025년 8월부터 10월까지 설문조사를 시행하였다. 설문 도구는 인구학적 정보, 학생 실습 현황, 임상 실습 과정, 지도 시 문제점 및 해결 방안 등 5개 영역으로 구성하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS를 이용해 빈도분석, 백분율, 평균 및 표준편차를 산출하였다. 결과 : 정신건강 분야 작업치료 임상실습은 모든 실습지에서 전일제 형태로 운영되고 있었으며, 학생 수, 실습 비용, 운영 방식에서는 기관별 차이가 나타났다. 다수의 실습지에서 실습 가이드라인과 교육이 제공되고 있었으나, 교육내용과 운영은 기관별로 일관되지 않았다. 임상실습 과정에서 면담과 중재 계획 수립 경험은 대부분 제공되었으나, 평가 및 중재 영역에서는 제공 수준의 편차가 있었고 직업재활 및 지역사회 기반 중재 경험은 상대적으로 적었다. 주요 문제점으로는 학생들의 기초 지식 부족, 학생 간 역량 차이, 표준화된 실습 가이드라인의 부재가 확인되었으며, 이에 대한 해결 방안으로 협회 차원의 교육 가이드 제공, 통일된 평가체계 마련, 실습 유형에 따른 필수 역량 교육의 필요성이 제시되었다. 결론 : 본 연구는 정신건강 분야 작업치료 임상실습의 운영 현황과 실습 지도 과정에서의 주요 문제점을 제시함으로써, 향후 현장 중심의 임상실습 지침서 개발과 표준화된 실습 운영을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다

Objective : This study investigated the current status of mental health occupational therapy(OT) fieldwork in South Korea to provide foundational data for developing standardized clinical guidelines. Methods : A descriptive survey was conducted from August to October 2025 with 20 experienced mental health OT supervisors. The structured questionnaire encompassed five domains: demographics, fieldwork status, processes, supervision barriers, and potential solutions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of SPSS Results : All institutions (100%) operated full-time fieldwork. While core competencies such as interviewing and intervention planning were frequently practiced, vocational and community-based interventions were relatively underrepresented. Key student-level barriers included a lack of foundational knowledge (95%) and significant competency gaps (80%). Institutionally, time constraints (90%), insufficient administrative/ financial incentives (80%), and supervisor shortages (70%) were critical challenges. Although 70% of sites maintain internal guidelines, 75% emphasized the urgent need for standardized national guidance. Conclusion : The findings highlight structural and educational gaps in mental health OT fieldwork. Standardized national guidelines and enhanced institutional support are essential to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical training in this specialized field
